FlowX is a boutique property tax advisory firm that serves property investors and developers in the UK. FlowX helps their clients to maximise their property tax deductions and minimise their tax liabilities through expert tax planning and strategic advice. The company’s target audience is real estate professionals - from buy-to-let landlords to large-scale commercial developers - who want to optimise their property tax position and boost their investment returns.

Amy Richardson is the Director & Property Tax Specialist at FlowX - we asked Amy to share her invaluable advice for starting a business.

What piece of advice would you give to your younger self?

If I could go back in time and give advice to my younger self, it would be to start networking and building relationships in the property industry much earlier. When I was first starting out, I underestimated the importance of cultivating a strong professional network. I would tell my younger self to get out there, attend industry events, and proactively connect with potential clients and strategic partners. Building those connections early on would have helped accelerate the growth of my business.

What is one tip for people starting their own business?

My top tip for aspiring entrepreneurs would be to thoroughly research your target market and understand the competitive landscape before launching your business. Too many people rush into starting anew venture without doing adequate due diligence. Take the time to validate your business idea, identify your unique value proposition, and develop a solid go-to-market strategy. This upfront work will pay dividends down the line and increase your chances of long-term success.

If you could be immortal, what age would you choose to stop aging at and why?

That's an interesting philosophical question! If I had the choice to be immortal, I think I would select the age of 35. By that point, I would have achieved a good balance of wisdom and vitality. I'd be mature enough to make sound decisions, but still have the energy and physical capacity to enjoy life to the fullest. 35 seems like the optimal age to freeze in time - old enough to be taken seriously, yet young enough to continue learning, growing, and pursuing new adventures for eternity.
